Inspiration
Cyprus Delight was originally written for Round One of the 2009 TWIWrite Zone competition held on The Write Idea forum. I have no recollection of what the prompt was, or what it scored.
Placings
Cyprus Delight was commended in the Single Poem category in the 2010 New Writer Awards.
Notes
The slogan quoted in block capitals in the poem actually exists, pained on a board and attached to a wall in Nicosia, and the showroom full of old Datsuns is real, too. And I'm pretty certain when we went there in September 2009, we bought some Cyprus Delight by the Ledra Palace Crossing.
