Inspiration
In Giza was originally written for Round Two the 2009 STIRRED POeTS competition held on The Write Idea forum. I have no recollection of what the prompt was, or what it scored. The original title for it was simply "Giza".

In Giza was shortlisted in the 2009 Excel for Charity competition.
Publications
As a shortlisted poem, In Giza was published in the anthology Blue Hyacinths.
Notes
When I first saw the sphinx, I was indeed disappointed by how small it seemed next to the pyramids. Looking back on it, it seems a bizarre thing, to be disappointed by the sphinx. I hope I've grown up a bit since then.
